Trinity Lutheran Church in Leesville/Fort Polk, LA, held its 25th annual gumbo fundraiser on November 2-4, 2017. This fundraiser is held each year to help raise money for Helping Hands, a community organization that works to provide meals for low-income senior citizens.
Reformation 500 in Shreveport/Bossier
Shreveport/Bossier congregations celebrated the 500th anniversary of the Reformation with a joint celebration communion service on Sunday, October 29th, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Bossier City, LA. With special music provided by all three congregations, the pastors each focused on one of the three “solas” – grace alone, faith alone, and Scripture alone. The service was followed by an enormous potluck dinner in the church fellowship area.

Lutherans invited all Protestant denominations to help celebrate the 500th anniversary of the Reformation, in Camden, AL, welcoming pastors from Presbyterian, Methodist and Baptist traditions to extol the virtues of Martin Luther’s defining message of the free gift of saving faith through God’s grace.
Church Building Renovation – First in Crowley
First Lutheran Church is the third-oldest church in Crowley, LA, and one of the oldest buildings in Crowley. The church is currently undergoing a major building renovation. Rev. David Greene, the pastor of First, was recently interviewed by the local community newspaper. He spoke about the significance of the Reformation, as well as the status of their renovations.

Sharing the Free Gift of Grace
First Lutheran in Crowley, LA, shared Jesus during the Rice Festival parades which were held on October 20 & 21. For the second year, they had a table out in front of the church and offered free small bottles of water and popsicles to the passersby. The sign read: “Our water and popsicles, like God’s salvation, are free to you!”
