Stewardship

Stewardship Southern Style

sthome1The Southern District of the LCMS partners completely and totally with its member Congregations in mission and ministry, regardless of size or amount of giving, striving to be good stewards of God’s Gifts, living generously and changing lives in making disciples for Jesus Christ.

Walking together with Synod, we have defined stewardship in this manner: “Christian stewardship is the free and joyous activity of the child of God and God’s family, the church, in managing all of life and life’s resources for God’s purposes.” We in the Southern District like to emphasize that the Love for Christ, generated by the Gospel, is the motivating factor for true Christian giving. For this reason we add the statement . . . “In response to the Gospel, stewardship is part of discipleship.

This section of the Southern District LCMS website is designed to provide information about our view of stewardship and its relationship to mission and ministry. The approach is to present five common topics about stewardship and include practical resources for congregations and circuits to support our stewardship walk together. Christian stewardship is definitely about our use of time, talent and treasure, but it is also about our testimony as Christians. When it comes to our testimony of the good news of Jesus, as with our other acts of stewardship, we desire to be maturing stewards who do the right things for the right reasons and strive for excellence in all we do!
