Pastor Louis Nelsen leaves to cherish his memory his children: Louis E. Nelsen III (with wife Donna), John Nelsen (with wife Tammy), Judith Cantrell (with husband Russell), and Robert Nelsen (with wife Robin). His wife, Doris (Pat) Miller Nelsen, and their son Paul Eugene Nelsen predeceased him.

Pastor Nelsen was baptized and confirmed at First English Lutheran Church in New Orleans, LA. He served in Europe during World War II with the railroad engineers in the United States Army.
